New York Times’ “emerging Maestro” Steph Richards releases Zephyr in October 2021, exploring the sonic and visual territory of water. In collaboration with powerhouse pianist Joshua White, this forcefully original record explores the sonic possibilities of trumpet and water. Recorded while Richards was six and a half months pregnant, this record investigates the expression of one player with two heartbeats, the rhythm of one body with two distinct pulses and ultimately, investigates the universality of creation. Filmmaker Vipal Monga (Black February), creates visual short films in conversation with the record.
